Thanksgiving Dinner on 24.11.2011

About 50 guests, including 10 students, 7 of American students, including a student from Austin, made the evening a very enjoyable event. One reason was the American Thanksgiving buffet exquisitely prepared by the team of Diehl’s Hotel Restaurant Clemens.

Present was the entire board of the Partnership Michael Wolf, Heinz Fey, Hanne Trumpp, Christian Schmitz, Christel Czielinski. The association president Michael Wolf led through the Prgoramm, accompanied by the German-American Club as well.

Another highlight besides the turkey was the presentation accompanied by beamer-assisted pictures of the board member Hanne Trumpp, who spoke emphatically and informative about the partnerships National Garden Festival garden and the Austin-Delegation visiting from Austin. Mr. Wolf welcomed the management of the charitable society Culterra from Neuwied, Messrs. Hofmann and Görg. Culterra established the Partnership-garden throughout the year and supervised it They reported as well as Hanne Trumpp about the whereabouts of the objects of the garden, the grass-couch, the smoker, the life-size metal figures, the “Hufeisenwurfspiel” (horseshoe throwing game).

The Federal Garden Show was also the subject of the substantial and insightful presentation of the Head of the Office for Economic Development of the city of Koblenz, Jürgen Czielinski. He reported at first-hand about his work as the first CEO of the Buga-GmbH, handing them over to Mr. Faas as the new CEO. As a special unique feature of Koblenz, he pointed out that almost all BUGA areas are unbuildable and therefore could be reactivated at any time for a garden show. (Which city has the possibility of out-of Koblenz, editor’s note) Remarkable was the note, what major improvements without the BUGA would not or would not have come so early (Schloßplatz Garage, use of the Castle, the Rhine promenade, etc.). He reported about the exciting development for achieving the cableway over the Rhine and the great hopes for the continuance of the same. Finally, Jürgen Czielinski offered to lead in february 20122 only to registered members and guests of the partnership through the new cultural building still under construction located at the central square. The appointment will be announced on this page yet.

The evening ended with guitar music and a super dessert.
